We offer websites for member businesses for pennies a day and centralized shopping for all our visitors.

Each member business is independently owned and operated by a local person, family or small business.

Wouldn’t it be easier to just have categories like an ordinary shopping mall instead of having both?

Answer: It may appear that way especially when the mall first opens and there are only a few businesses. However, as the number of businesses increases, the “simple” becomes the “unwieldy”.

Answer: Our mall search looks at keywords, not items. You should search for a more generic term like “toys” or a brand. When you select the member store, they should have this information categorized on their website.

Another method is to select a category of stores such as “Toys” and then look at the stores listed for more information.

Answer: We offer four ways to shop:

2. by business type
3. by searching keywords
4. by Advanced Searching

Keywords are words such as brands or services offered by a business.

Each of these can be used independently or in combination on the Advanced Search page. With all of these methods available, you can easily and quickly find what you need.

Answer: Many small businesses will have more then service or type of product they offer. We enable them by allowing them to be placed in multiple categories and sub-categories.

With few limitations, yes. The Community Organization/Church and SOHO type websites are not permitted to sell merchandise directly from the website unless they have upgraded to the Small Business website for churches and civic organizations. They may however advertise a sale.

You can use the Pay-Pal Module in the Point-and-Click Site Builder. You must have a Small Business site to have this available to you. We can assist you with getting an item set up and you can easily duplicate the process.

At this time, we are not offering a shopping cart solution from this website. We do offer shopping carts on domain name websites but that is a far more expensive solution. We may consider offering a shopping cart if there is enough interest but it will increase costs.

When you have a website with us, it is your website. We reserve the right to place our copy write notice at the bottom of your pages. There is also a link to the “Mall” at the top and bottom of each page. Other than these two small links, it is all yours.

Your website is a “Sub-Domain” of Rocky Mount Mall. Your web address will be like this: http://MyBusiness.RockyMountMall.com/ where “MyBusiness” stands for your business name. (No spaces allowed)

We do not advertise on your site or have any links or information other than already mentioned. People will know it is your site.

We offer a number of templates from which to choose. These offer you a way to vary the look and feel for your website. You can also have custom pages created for you. The Home Page template offers you up to ten different layouts with as many as three options per layout or nearly thirty options total.

Because we use templates, there is a certain quality of uniformity but this works to your advantage. If you have ever tried going to different websites and find information there, it can be really confusing.

The most important thing about having a website is to communicate your message and provide information to your visitors in a clear and easy to access manner.

A domain name is unique throughout the internet. We do domain development for those who can afford the cost of developing, hosting and having their own domain name. For most SOHO and Small Businesses this is too expensive. That is why we offer this “Mall”.

Email accounts are not included but you can use any email account you own as your contact on your website.

From the point of view of your customer, the answer is no. All website are “sub-domains” of RockyMountMall.com. Some resources are shared but others are independent. The greatest differences are in the features and quantity of features offered by each type of website.

When you register your site with us, you will have the option of selecting from different customer types and options and see how these choices affect your costs before your register your business.

Once you have made up your mind, you can register your site with the selected options.

A keyword is a word or phrase that you want to include in searched so that people can find your website in the mall. For example: If you are carpenter who works from home you probably want “Kitchen Cabinets”.

A PayPal Item is one that links directly to the PayPal website and their shopping cart. At this time we are not offering a database search for items. You can easily add items to one or more "Item" page(s) where you want it to appear. There is some information you will need to provide with your items. A shopping cart is a far more sophisticated piece of software that enables cross-category listing, inventory control and much, much more. It is also more expensive to set up, lease ($40.00 per month/ $400.00 per year) and takes a lot more of your time to manage. Our experience has shown that most small businesses do not have the time, talent or inclination to manage a shopping cart or the wherewithal to pay us to do it for them. You also need to have your own domain to have a fully functional shopping cart.

We may consider an upgraded PayPal or PayPal Pro shopping cart in the future if there is enough interest.

PayPal is a great way for the home based business or even small business to sell over the web. They offer “free” accounts or, to those who want to take any form of payment on their website, they offer PayPal Pro. Be advised that even “free” accounts must pay a small percentage of the sale price when they use either type of account. Visit the PayPal website for more information.
